  • What excites you most about your research?

I enjoy exploring how remote sensing technology can be used to study the environment and help us deal with problems more effectively. I am most excited that my research will help to improve public safety by helping Eversource to prevent hazardous conditions caused by damaged trees. I’m also very excited to be a part of research that will help us learn how to manage forests to be storm resistant while maintaining the beauty of Connecticut’s wooded roadsides.

  • What’s the most valuable aspect of your research for people and communities?

Our research will directly benefit communities by helping to reduce the frequency and severities of power outages. We will be able to show Eversource which areas in each community have the greatest risk of storm damage so they can proactively reduce that risk. We will also be working with communities to help them manage their roadside forests to be healthy and resistant to storm damage.

Research focus: Remote sensing, geospatial analysis, tree biomechanics.
