  • What excites you most about your research?

I am excited about developing new tools, devices and knowledge that help build highly resilient, efficient and flexible cyber-physical power systems satisfying social, environmental, and economic development requirements. I am happy to see our solutions are being adopted by power and energy industry to integrate more renewable energy into the grid, enhance grid security, improve the quality of customer experiences, mitigate power outages, speedup power restoration and reduce energy costs.

  • What’s the most valuable aspect of your research for the people and communities?

The value of our research lies in our tractable and scalable solutions to major scientific and engineering challenges in planning, operating, networking and hardening complex electric infrastructures. By integrating advanced optimization, control, power electronics and network computing methods, our research leads to technologies that not only ensure energy resilience at millisecond level but also optimally achieve mid-term and long-term energy objectives towards smart cities and communities.

Research focus: Power system resilience; smart distribution grid and microgrid; cyber security; energy storage; smart inverters; distributed renewable energy systems; power system dynamics and control.
