A recent study published in Electrical Power Systems Research shows regular tree trimming and vegetation management can reduce power outages during storms. This study was conducted by Center faculty members Drs. Diego Cerrai, Peter Watson, and Emmanouil N. Anagnostou. By using statistical methods the group determined power outages would drop by 49% to 65%, whereas the Outage Prediction Model showed a 16% to 48% reduction with vegetation management.
